About the Business Technology Partner Blog
Business and IT roles and initiatives are converging at a rapid rate. The old mantra that “IT needs to align with the business” has been replaced with “IT needs to become the business.” Technology thought leaders, well known CIO’s, and business executives all tend to agree that this is the big change that will define IT models and business differentiation for the next several years.
Having spent my entire career in technology roles, both in traditional IT and in front line business, I am both intrigued and excited by this new dynamic. I created this blog to share my experiences and perspectives about the business and technology convergence, and specifically focus on the partnership role that has formed in the middle. More importantly, I want to hear from others and learn about their strategies, tactics, and anecdotal experiences as they navigate through this transformation.
My goal is to continuously improve on a partnership model that creates the most value to our businesses.
Who is the audience? Many of the articles and blogs I see on this topic are focused on the CIO alone. I want to expand that audience to both IT and business functional leaders throughout the ranks that are pushing their own digital initiatives. For business technology to be successful in the future, we need this to work at all levels of the organization.
About me. I am an experienced technology leader, excelling in business partnership, people development, and delivering on a vision. I have run communications and IT support during combat in Iraq, managed a field service business for healthcare technology, and led the IT strategy and execution for a highly respected Fortune 500 medical device business. My opinions on this blog represent my personal perspectives.
